The Religious Education (RE) program promotes the spiritual growth of children, youth, and adults. The curricula are from World Religions, our Judeo-Christian Heritage, Unitarian Universalism, and social justice.
Nursery / Preschool
Nursery care for infants through preschool is available from the time the children go to RE classes, or earlier if a quiet space is needed. About 15 minutes into the service, children and teachers are “sung out” to classes. At that time, nursery-age children can be accompanied downstairs to the nursery by a parent (then parent returns to the service). Two adult volunteers will care for and play with the children during the service. We ask that you pick up children from the nursery as soon as the service ends. Parents are also welcome to take their own children to the nursery earlier if a quiet place is needed.
The K-5 Class
The K-5 class follows monthly themes and children participate in a range of activities, from stories, to games and crafts. The classes meet three Sundays per month, from September through May, in our historic schoolhouse. About 15 minutes into each service, the children and their two adult volunteer teachers are “sung out” to class. Children will be accompanied back to the church building at the end of the service.
Adult & Intergenerational
The minister and lay leaders offer a variety of classes from spiritual development to social justice issues throughout the year. Recent programs include UU History and Transgender Inclusion in Congregational Life.
